Rolling Grille Repair and Installation in McAdoo
We repair, adjust and install rolling grilles for stores, warehouses and distribution centers. That covers sticky curtains, bent links, tired springs and failed operators. After the work is done, we check back to see how the grille is running and show your staff how to keep it moving freely.

Security you can see through, working the way it should
A rolling grille is an open curtain of interlocking rods and links that coils onto a spring-loaded barrel above the opening. It locks up a pharmacy counter, a will-call window, a parts cage or a storefront while still letting light, air and sightlines through. When it binds, drops crooked or will not lock, the area it protects is either exposed or out of use.
We work on manual push-up grilles, chain hoist and crank units, and motorized grilles. Most problems come from a handful of parts: guides that have been bumped out of line, links bent by carts or pallet jacks, springs that have lost tension, and operators or limit switches that have drifted. We find which one is causing your trouble and fix that, without selling you a new grille you do not need.
The part many companies skip is what happens after. A week or two after we finish, we call to ask how the grille is behaving, and we leave your team with a short list of care steps so the repair lasts.

Rolling grille work we handle
- 01
Curtain and link fixes
Bent rods, links and spacers get straightened or replaced, and damaged sections are swapped so the curtain rolls up evenly on the barrel without bunching.
- 02
Guide cleaning and alignment
The guides take the hardest knocks. We clean out packed debris, straighten bent channels, re-secure loose guides and fit new wear strips where old ones are causing drag.
- 03
Barrel and spring service
We set torsion spring tension so a manual grille raises without a struggle and holds its position, and we replace tired or broken springs. The barrel and bearings are inspected on the same visit.
- 04
Motor and control repair
For motorized grilles we track down faults in the motor, brake, limit switches and controls, set the travel limits properly and test any sensor or safety edge on the bottom bar.
- 05
Bottom bar and locks
Slide bolts, cylinder locks and bent bottom bars are repaired or replaced so the grille sits flush when closed and locks as designed.
- 06
Installing new grilles
If a grille can't be saved, or a new counter or cage needs one, we measure the opening, help you decide between aluminum or steel and manual or motorized, and set it in square and level.
Questions about Rolling Grilles?
Call(570) 526-4929Signs your rolling grille needs attention
It drags or sticks partway
A curtain that hangs up at the same point every time usually means a bent guide or a damaged link. Forcing it through only spreads the damage.
It closes crooked
If one side reaches the floor before the other, the bottom bar will not lock properly and the curtain may be jumping out of a guide.
Lifting takes real muscle
A manual grille that suddenly feels heavy, or drifts down on its own, has lost spring tension. That is a safety issue for whoever opens up in the morning.
Grinding, clicking or popping
New noises from the barrel or operator often point to worn bearings, a slipping brake or a spring starting to fail.
The motor hums but nothing moves
This can be a tripped limit, a failed capacitor or a jammed curtain. Shutting it off and getting it looked at protects the motor from burning out.
How a rolling grille visit runs
- 1
A phone conversation first
You tell us what the grille is doing, its rough size and whether it is manual or motorized. We ask about your hours so we can plan the visit around customers, shifts or deliveries.
- 2
Inspection and a clear explanation
On site we cycle the grille, check the guides, curtain, springs, locks and operator, and show you what we found. You get a straight repair-or-replace answer and a written estimate before any work starts.
- 3
The repair, with the area kept safe
We cone off the opening, work from a lift or ladder as needed, and keep the space tidy so your staff can work nearby. When we finish, we run the grille through several full cycles and test the locks with you.
- 4
Care tips and a follow-up call
Before we leave, we walk whoever opens and closes the grille through a few habits that keep it healthy. A short while later we check back to make sure it is still running smoothly and answer any questions.
What affects the cost of rolling grille work
Every grille job is priced from what we actually find on the inspection, and you see the line items before we begin. A simple guide adjustment and a new spring cost far less than replacing a curtain or an operator. Here is what usually pushes a quote up or down.
- Opening width and height
- Wider and taller grilles carry heavier curtains, larger barrels and stronger springs, so parts and labor grow along with the opening.
- Material and operation
- Aluminum and steel curtains are priced differently, and motorized grilles add an operator, controls and safety devices that manual units do not have.
- Condition of what is behind the hood
- Rusted guides, a worn barrel or brittle mounting points can turn a small repair into a larger one. We tell you up front if we see this.
- Access and timing
- High mounting, tight ceilings or merchandise in the way can call for a lift or extra setup. Working before opening or after closing to avoid disruption can also affect the schedule and cost.
Common questions about rolling grilles
Is our grille worth fixing, or should we get a new one?
In most cases a repair makes sense, since bent links, worn guides and weak springs can all be replaced. We suggest a new grille when the curtain is heavily corroded, an older unit's parts can no longer be found, or ongoing repairs would cost more than replacing it. We explain our reasoning either way.
Can you add a motor to a manual grille?
Frequently. It comes down to the barrel, the space above the opening and how heavy the curtain is. We look at all three during the inspection and tell you whether fitting an operator is practical or a new motorized grille is the smarter choice.
How long will the grille be out of use?
Plenty of repairs wrap up in one visit, with the grille lockable again before we go. When a part needs ordering, we leave the grille as safe and usable as we can and tell you what happens next.
How can our staff help the grille last?
Keep packing material and debris out of the guides, run the grille all the way up or down instead of stopping midway, and don't lean carts or stock on the curtain. In winter, salt and slush carried in by entrances can clog the lower guides, so wipe them now and then. We cover all of this in person when each job wraps up.
